Military Family Members

Excelsior College offers highly respected college degree programs supported with online courses and credit-by-exam to military family members. Maximum transfer credit for college courses completed through accredited colleges, credit by examination options, credit for approved certifications and training through the American Council on Education, and flexibility in degree completion all up to a winning strategy for earning your degree no matter where you support our military forces.

A military family member is a spouse or dependent of military servicemembers currently serving on active duty or in the Reserve, or National Guard component.

Choose an Area of Study and Degree Program

Eligibility requirements:

Military family members are offered the same reduced tuition and fees as active duty military, Reservists, and National Guard members. To be eligible for the military rate, military family members are required to submit documentation as outlined below. This documentation can be submitted to the Center for Military and Veteran Education by FAX to 518-608-8142, or emailed to military@excelsior.edu

Spouses may provide one of the following to confirm eligibility for the military rate:

  • A copy of the spouse’s DEERS Form 1172-2
  • A copy of the spouse’s marriage license or certified copy of complete Federal Income Tax Form showing marital filing status and a copy of one of the following forms: servicemember’s Proof of Service Statement or Letter; servicemember’s most recent reenlistment or commission contract; servicemember’s most recent Leave and Earnings Statement; or servicemember’s most recent Tuition Assistance Form.
  • MyCAA Scholarship Recipient – proof of MyCAA Account, approved MyCAA Tuition Assistance Form, or Excelsior College confirmation through Academic Institution (AI) Portal

Dependents may provide one of the following to confirm eligibility for the military rate:

  • A copy of the individual’s DEERS Form 1172-2
  • Certified copy of complete Federal Income Tax Form showing dependence and a copy of one of the following forms: servicemember’s Proof of Service Statement or Letter; servicemember’s most recent reenlistment or commission contract; servicemember’s most recent Leave and Earnings Statement; or servicemember’s most recent Tuition Assistance Form.

If you don’t already have one, please set up your free MyExcelsior account. It will provide access to all the resources you will need.
Step 2. Gather Your Records

You will need to request official college transcripts to be sent directly to Excelsior’s Office of the Registrar at:
